Alternate route for Turtle Trail users

Walkers, runners and riders who use the Turtle Trail in Bargara are advised a detour will be in place from Monday as works continue in the area.

Bundaberg Regional Council's Bargara-Rubyanna Trunk Sewer Main project is currently underway.

The project will deliver a 6,900 metre trunk sewer main, submersible sewer pump station and ancillary infrastructure to divert sewage from the Bargara Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Rubyanna Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The project is expected to benefit the coastal community by addressing the rapid population growth the region has experienced in the past few years.

Water and Wastewater portfolio spokesperson Cr Jason Bartels said, to allow for continued works to take place, a detour would be established to allow pedestrians to travel around the closed section of the Turtle Trail.

“The alignment of the diversion pipeline is being installed in an existing Council easement through the area minimising clearing of natural vegetation,” he said.

“Once work through this section is complete approximately 400 metres of the trail will be resurfaced.

“It is anticipated the work will take approximately four weeks to complete, beginning on Monday.

“Council thanks the community for its patience during this time.”

Detour signage will be placed in the area from next week.
